Transparent pricing,
no surprises.
The Village GP is a cash-based practice. You pay on the day and we provide you with a detailed invoice — with all the correct billing and procedure codes — that you can submit to your medical aid to claim back.
What does cash-based mean?
First time here? You don't need to start with a New Patient Onboarding. If you have a health concern that needs attention now, just book the appointment type that fits. The onboarding is there for when you'd like to go deeper: a dedicated session to share your full history and start building a longer-term relationship with Dr Steph.

Things patients often ask.
No — The Village GP is a cash-based practice, which means you pay on the day and claim back from your medical aid yourself. We provide a detailed, fully coded invoice that meets all the requirements for medical aid submission. Most schemes reimburse a portion of the consultation and procedure fees, depending on your plan and available benefits.
Working outside of medical aid networks allows Dr Stephanie to set consultation lengths and fees that reflect the time and quality of care you actually receive. It means appointments aren't rushed, treatment decisions aren't constrained by scheme formularies, and the focus stays entirely on what's right for you clinically.
This depends on your specific plan and available benefits. Most medical aids reimburse GP consultations at a rate tied to the scheme tariff or medical aid rate. Some plans reimburse the full amount, while others cover a percentage. We recommend checking with your scheme directly, or reviewing your plan's out-of-hospital GP benefit, to understand what you can expect back.
A 10-minute Virtual Consultation costs R500 and provides focused remote care when an in-person examination is not needed. We use a secure video consultation platform — but we're flexible. If you'd prefer a simple phone call or a WhatsApp call (voice or video), that works too. Payment for virtual consultations is handled via our online payment link.
The Virtual Consultation is designed for focused, 10-minute care by call or video when an in-person examination is not needed. It is especially useful for existing patients when Dr Stephanie already knows your background and context, but new patients can also use it when the concern is simple and appropriate for virtual care.
Failing to attend an appointment, or cancelling with less than two hours' notice, will incur the full consultation fee. That said, cancellation fees are reviewed on a case-by-case basis — if the circumstances show the late cancellation was genuinely unavoidable, the fee won't be charged.
Telephone and email advice will usually incur a charge unless it relates directly to a recent consultation. This is at the doctor's discretion — quick clarifications on something just discussed won't be billed, but substantive new advice will.
Referrals to specialists are not usually made without an appointment. A proper consultation ensures the referral is appropriate, well-directed, and supported by the right clinical information. If a referral is made without an appointment, a fee will apply.
Yes — laboratory tests, vaccinations, medications, dressings, and other consumables are charged separately. Where a procedure involves external pathology (such as pap smears or biopsies), those lab fees are billed by the pathology provider. We'll always let you know when additional costs are involved so there are no surprises.
We offer several ways to pay. For in-person appointments, you can pay by card (credit or debit) via our iKhokha card device at the practice, or by EFT. For virtual and telephonic consultations, we have an online payment gateway and can send you a payment link. All charges are settled on the day of your appointment.
